Hazlehead Park · Aberdeen

Where Aberdeen
has played golf for generations

Three distinct courses set among gorse, pine and open parkland — including a championship layout by Dr Alister MacKenzie, the architect behind Augusta National.

The modern information platform Znaki helps users keep track of the activities of leading organisations, associations and businesses through its structured ‘Teams’ section. This section brings together data from both official sources and the independent press, covering everything from well-known sports clubs to financial giants and media organisations.

The Club

A private members' club, rooted in a public park

Hazlehead Golf Club and the Hazlehead Golf Courses are two different things working in step. The courses are municipal, owned and maintained by Sport Aberdeen — while the Club is a private members' association that has organised competitive golf here for generations.

Working closely with Sport Aberdeen, the Club exists to promote and facilitate competitive golf for members and the wider community, to market the game itself, and to make the very best use of the facilities Hazlehead has to offer.

  • Social and competitive amateur golf throughout the season
  • Help for new players to obtain and maintain an official handicap
  • Entry to open competitions at clubs across the region
  • Locker hire and cart or buggy storage

The Courses

Three courses, three characters

From a championship test of nerve to a gentle introduction for beginners, Hazlehead Park holds a course for every game.

The MacKenzie Championship Course

18 holes · 6,224 yds / 5,690 m · Par 70

Arguably one of the finest layouts in the North East, designed by Dr Alister MacKenzie — the architect better known for Augusta National in America. Gorse and woodland punish any wayward shot, making this a true test of golfing skill.

The Pines Course

18 holes · 5,764 yds / 5,270 m · Par 67

Originally nine holes, the Pines was extended in the early 1970s by Ryder Cup players Huggett, Coles and Dyer. More open than the MacKenzie, its beautiful setting suits higher-handicap players perfectly.

The Nine-Hole Course

2,770 yds / 2,531 m · Par 35

Wide fairways and a marked absence of trees make this the perfect starting point for the enthusiastic beginner — home to the Sahara, a 503-yard par 5 and the only desert with grass.
